I am a practising artist living in Manchester. Painting is a journey - the release through paint of my response to nature and the feelings it engenders. I never know what is quite going to emerge; I let the paint - the colours, shapes and textures - speak. There is a dialogue between instinct and thought (sometimes an argument!) to get to an image that I feel works authentically.

People, being part of nature, inspire me. Powerful personal events, such as the birth of my granddaughter, Rosa, in March 2025 drive me to paint. She was seriously ill when born and the journey from the ICU back home to her family kick-started a series of paintings celebrating the tenacious energy of life. Walking in nature is part of my daily habit and the rhythm and beauty of my surroundings, along with the power of light, are a constant catalyst to create.
